WMSOA Field Day

When:            Saturday, March 29, 8:00 AM – 2:30 PM (approximate)

Where:           Monocacy Middle School

Directions:    From Rte. 15. Take Opossumtown Pike W approx 1.2 miles. At the second traffic light at Frederick Community College, turn R into Monocacy MS, fields are on the right.

What You Need: Minimum - a gold referee jersey, wrist timer, and whistle.  Full uniform preferred.  You may want to bring water and lunch or snacks.

There will be three fields for U-10/12/14 scrimmage games.  There will be 2 or 3 experienced referees per field to mentor new referees.  Students will have an opportunity to act as the referee and as an assistant referee during several games.  This is your chance to get practical field experience and get advice and feedback before doing games where you’re “the ultimate authority”.  After your turn in the center, you will have a chance to discuss what happened and get a few suggestions to help.

Plan to stay so that you get multiple chances to act as part of a referee team and get a feel for the age groups and your “comfort level”.  Participate, be enthusiastic, and maximize this opportunity to learn on-the-job, including watching the other students.

Mike Truax, the WMSOA Assignor, will be taking attendance and then observing to help make initial assignments.
